 Earning a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology

A bachelor's degree in Psychology didn't bring me many employment opportunities. In the field of psychology, it is essential to possess a higher degree. Therefore, I realized that it was time to earn my Masters in Clinical Psychology. The reason I chose this field of study was that I was drawn to working with other people. In the end, I would like to work in a counselling capacity, if it is feasible. Maybe as a marriage and counsellor for families...

A master's in clinical psychology will enable me to pursue various job opportunities, or even earn a Doctorate qualification in the near future. When I go to school full time will allow me to finish my Master within 2 years or less. Part-time students will need slightly longer. A lot of universities and colleges offer distance-learning degree courses online. This keep costs low and enrollment up. Being able to finish my degree at home and fit it into my schedule is more than I could have ever imagined.

After I complete my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology I will have an improved focus and will be more involved in counseling as I've always wanted to. It's about now that I can get my degree in psychology to begin serving me. Clinical Psych has always fascinated me due to my desire to research how to solve problems. This is the reason why this field of psychology involves. In the beginning, I thought difficult about pursuing a career in child psychology , but later I realized that this field was more exciting and I was more to be a clinical psychologist.

The most likely field of study in the field, clinical psychology is a broad field that has varying levels of inter-discipline links. On one hand, the pursuit of an academic career in clinical psychology provides you with a wide range of choices in regards to the field of study you would like to specialize in. It could be research-based, teaching at the College or university level, or leading programs that aim to improve the quality of public welfare, there are endless possibilities. It is essential to keep in your mind this fact: Clinical Psychology, is, certainly not a default course, but one you will stumble upon due to an absence of options. It's a challenging career that requires determination, perseverance and drive.

So, the primary and most crucial aspect is time. In the average it's postgraduate training that lasts for around 4 years, and possibly longer in the Doctorate degree. It's a minimal requirement to be able to claim the title of Clinical Psychologist. It's a job that you must fulfill. At this point, you need to know your area of expertise.

A further important aspect is being able to distinguish between the difference between a Ph. D and Psy. D and a Psy. A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) is more focused on research, as opposed with those who choose to pursue the Doctor of Psychology, (Psy. D) that is more oriented toward the professional aspects that is Clinical Psychology. This basically implies that one should be aware of the path that one wishes to pursue and then choose the appropriate path.

It is very common for doctoral programs within Clinical Psychology to take undergraduates from different disciplines. However, the focus is upon the initial degree of Psychology. This is because Clinical psychologists deal with the most severe mental illnesses and an understanding of this field gives you an edge. The majority of clinical psychologists work in hospitals. more than 70%, work practicing in private practice. This doesn't mean that they are licensed physicians, as typically they aren't permitted to prescribe drugs to patients.

It's a fairly well-paying job, particularly for those who wind being practicing in private practices. It can be challenging and taxing but it's as rewarding, even more so when you finally find your feet. This is due to the fact that it offers a fantastic chance to begin your own business, and to be the boss of your life. Also, it gets you thinking creatively finding creative solutions to various diagnoses There are no boundaries.
